For many years, David Weil held a 200 ton Master’s License, endorsed for sail and tow boats and “commercial assistance” tow. Unlike other “white collar” captains, Mr. Weil has considerable experience as a commercial mariner, and operated a wide range of workboats under his license. Prior to starting his law practice he worked for companies and individuals, operating harbor tugs (the old “Upper T” and “Lower T” in Long Beach Harbor), oil supply boats, commercial water taxis, dinner boats, excursion boats, and private yachts. In short, when he talks to a licensed mariner about a Coast Guard problem, he understands the issues. He has represented numerous mariners in license prosecutions for problems ranging from positive drug tests to serious casualties, and including captains, crew, and tankermen, employed aboard yachts, diveboats, workboats, tugs, and barges. When the Coast Guard calls you, gives us a call.
